Scoring Service

Save the time that hand-scoring involves and get detailed, diagnostic information about your students by having your tests machine-scored.

The Nelson Scoring Service provides a wide variety of reports and services for your testing program. Basic scoring services are available for:

CTBS LEVELS 9-18 / CCAT LEVELS A-H

• Forms K & L Answer Sheets: $2.99 per student document
• Forms 7 & 8 Answer Sheets: $4.15 per student document

CTBS LEVELS 5-8 / CCAT LEVELS 1-2

• Form K Primary Booklets: $5.50 per student booklet
• Form K Primary Booklets, Reading Only: $2.75 per student booklet

GMRT LEVELS D4-F

• Forms 3 & 4 Answer Sheets: $1.99 per student document

GMRT PRIMARY LEVELS A-C

• Forms 3 & 4 Booklets: $3.95 per student booklet

Prices are in effect October 1, 2010.

THE PROCESS

1. Administer any of the above tests to your students using the documents identified as either Machine Scorable Answer Sheets or consumable Test Booklets.

2. Request and follow the instructions in TEST04 Scoring Service Instructions (no charge)
   Order and use the following Identification Sheets:
   • 606028-6 Building ID Sheet (one/building) - $0.09 each
   • 606027-8 Class/Group ID Sheet (one/class) - $0.09 each

3. Assemble the package as noted in Scoring Service Instructions (TEST04), package it securely, and send the parcel by a reliable carrier, ideally using a method that can be traced, to:

4. As part of Nelson Scoring Service's quality control, Nelson will manually check all answer documents for any marks that may have been made outside the designated answer area, for missing student information, etc., before being processed through our electronic scanners. Labour charges may apply for extensive manual repair and/or missing identification sheets.

5. You will receive laser-printed student reports that are clear and easy to understand. These reports will assist teachers, schools, school districts, and provincial boards to tailor instruction more effectively for individual and group needs.

6. This process normally takes up to 10 working days, exclusive of delivery and return.

7. If you need to order additional service(s) after you have sent your answer documents to Nelson, or after you have received the results back, please contact the Scoring Service Coordinator at 1-800-914-7776, ext. 2222 immediately. Late charges may apply and you will be notified prior to any additional charges being incurred.

BASIC SERVICE

Basic Service for CTBS, CCAT, and GMRT includes:

• the scanning or input of your students' answer documents
• the scoring of the students' responses
• duplicate copies of the Student List Report (showing the students' scores and class averages), Building Averages by grade (each new building starts on a new page), and System Averages by grade

Basic Service is required for all orders. Each type of test is to be submitted as a separate order (see "other guidelines" below).  There is a minimum charge of $100.00 for any package scored. When the order includes OS-12 Longitudinal Reports, the minimum charge is $150.00.

Note: For multiple-building systems, Basic Service now also includes OS-9, Building & System Averages, Sorted by Grade.

OPTIONAL SERVICES

Optional Services (e.g., OS-1 Student Labels) may be ordered as required, with the Basic Service at the time you send in your package. Unless stated otherwise, prices for optional services are "per student document processed" and there is no minimum quantity required. All optional services (unless otherwise indicated) are printed in single copies.

Some Optional Services can affect the contents of the reports that are part of the Basic Service; other Optional Services produce additional reports. Not ALL optional services are available for ALL of the tests (e.g., OS-8 is only available for CTBS).

NEW -- CCAT ABILITY PROFILE SCORING REPORT

The new CCAT Ability Profile Scoring Report illustrates each student's cognitive performance in a bar chart and provides an extensive narrative that includes suggested "next steps", beyond the numeric scores.  Information and a sample may be obtained by downloading the CCAT 2010-2011 section of our Classroom Assessment Resources Catalogue (this is a PDF file, approx. 1.8MB in size).

CUSTOM REPORTS

Nelson provides custom reports for many of its customers who have specific requirements beyond what is offered in standard Basic and Optional Services. Requests may include providing space on reports for the inclusion of School District logos, special notes to parents, etc.

OTHER GUIDELINES

For purposes of calculating averages and local norms:

• System is defined as all of the eligible answer sheets that you submit in one order
• Buildings are defined by the Building Identification Sheets that are included with your answer documents.

CTBS Multilevel Forms 7 and 8 must be submitted in separate orders.

CTBS Multilevel (levels 9 through 14) must be submitted separately from CTBS High School (levels 15 through 18).
