Extended Function Modules

Two extended function modules (Scanning and Client Entry) are available to automate the processing of the CBCL/6-18, TRF, and YSR.

SCANNING MODULE

The ADM Scanning Module enables you to process machine-readable forms via reflective-read scanners (see Option 1) or via fax and image scanners (see Option 2). It automates the scanning process by communicating directly with your scanner software. You can activate and monitor your scanner software through the Assessment Data Manager (ADM). Scanned data can be automatically loaded into ADM ready to be scored. With ADM, you have unlimited uses with no extra fees per use.

To process the machine-readable forms, you need:

1. A computer running Windows 95 / 98 / NT / 2000 (some scanners won't run with Windows NT; check with the manufacturer).
2. A scanner or fax modem.
3. Third party software from an appropriate vendor to read the scanner or fax image.
4. ADM Software for Ages 6-18 (either 608606-4 or 608679-X)
5. Scanning Module software (608609-9)

Option 1 - Reflective-read scanners (OMR):

Using a #2 or HB pencil, respondents fill in bubbles on machine-readable CBCL/6-18, TRF, or YSR forms. Completed OMR Scan forms are fed into your reflective-read scanner. Data is transmitted directly back to the ADM installed on your computer.

OMR scanners require precisely printed forms with timing marks and 'skunk' marks. ASEBA forms are printed on both sides, so they work best with dual-read heads.

Supported OMR scanners:

• NCS OpScan 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,10,12 with dual-read heads (do not use ink-read heads)
• Scantron 2000 and 8000 series

Required scanner software (third party):

• ScanTools/Windows for NCS (NCS Pearson)
• ScanBook/Windows for Scantron

Option 2 - Fax & image scanners (TELEform®):

Using dark marks, respondents fill in bubbles on TELEform® versions of machine-readable CBCL/6-18, TRF, or YSR forms. Completed forms are fed into your fax or image scanner, which transmits data to your IBM-compatible computer. TELEform® data is automatically processed for direct transmission to the ADM installed on your computer.

Required scanner software:

• TELEform® Version 7 or higher software from Cardiff Software

CLIENT ENTRY MODULE

Parents, teachers, or youths sit at the computer and directly key-enter their responses for the CBCL/6-18, TRF, or YSR. There is no need for clients to fill out forms that must be key-entered later. Responses are automatically loaded into the ADM software ready to be scored. This option includes unlimited uses with no extra fees per use.

COMPONENTS

Each Function Module includes an on-line manual. The OMR Scan Forms and TELEform® versions require the ADM software (608606-4 or 608608-0) and Scanning Module (608609-9).

These extended function modules and machine-readable forms are NOT compatible with the earlier 4-18 modules or early versions of ADM.
